It is named after the "diamond over a bar" branding iron registered in 1918 by ranch owner Frederic E. Lewis (1884-1963). He was also given a spot in the schools Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 and later served as assistant football coach from 2002-2006 before transitioning into his head coaching role in 2011.
